Our good friends and partners in Papua New Guinea, Max and Cecile Benjamin of Walindi Plantation Resort, are celebrating a milestone of diving and tourism achievement in 2008.
Specifically, it's the 25th anniversary of one of the most unique Dive Resorts in the world, located on the shores of Kimbe Bay, New Britain Island, and lapped by the gentle waves of the Bismarck Sea.
Like so many of our diving pioneers, they stumbled onto diving as an afterthought... Australians and trained agriculturalists, their original intention was to transform a nearly dead cocoa plantation by replanting it with oil palms. Although Walindi is still a working plantation, it's far better known for it's diving and hospitality.
Walindi today, except for the amenities that Max and Cecile have steadily increased over the last 25 years, is still on the frontier of diving and travel, and provides unparalleled diving experiences for the guests of Walindi, Star Dancer, and Febrina. This is their story...
